Beautiful and Poetical Lyrics written by Woodz.
As an artist that made all of his songs by himself, Woodz of course has developed a lyric making skill over the years of him making songs for himself and other artists. Even though he wrote most of his songs in Korean, he also got some songs that are in English from his albums. These songs are Sweater, Deep Deep Sleep, Dirt On My Leather, etc. How pleasing are his English songs compared to his Korean ones? Let’s find out
Sweater is the fifth track from his second mini album ‘Woops!’. It was released in 2020, featuring Jamie (former 15&’s member Park Jimin). It was a song about reminiscing old sweet and comfy memories and the feeling of wanting to experience it again. The lyrics conveys the message in such a metaphorical way, starting with explaining the moment that leads to the reminiscent feeling then how the person remembers how the old time used to feel like, it was a very sweet and comforting song.
Woodz Dirt On My Leather FanCam from PEAK Festival
Dirt On My Leather is a very energetic song, the first track of his 4th mini album ‘Colorful Trauma’. This song told us not to be afraid of taking risks and just rub the dirt on your leather because it doesn’t mean anything and don’t be too worried of destroying your leather, it is meant to accompany you on your journal and you can do whatever you want to achieve your goals.
Deep Deep Sleep is the first track of his latest mini album ‘OO-LI’. Deep Deep Sleep is a song about not wanting to face the hard reality and wanting to stick to dreams only. The metaphor in this song is very good at conveying desperation in facing what life has given you and acts very good as a song that you want to listen to when you want to hear some validations when you’re stuck.
Multiply is a song about a couple being in a long distance relationship and shares different time zone, he uses a lot of rhyming and metaphor on the lyrics. One of the remarkable parts is the part where the lyrics says
‘LA, where you be at? night time in Korea
But you brighten up my sky’
It indirectly says that they life i the different side of the world but the distance doesn’t matter at all because being together lightens up each others world.
Those are some example of Woodz’s poetical and aesthetic lyric, knowing how artist worked hard on every piece of their work with their whole heart to serve us something beautiful is very touching so let’s not forget to give appreciation and full credit to them.
